Essential Oils for Preschoolers

Essential oils for preschoolers can be a great option to help boost their immune system and put them in a better mood for their teacher!Having a preschooler is a whole new world for us as a family. It’s new routines, new challenges, new knowledge, even a new little personality coming out. The one-word responses have already started when we ask him about his day, which means there have been so many moments where Ryan and I look at each other and go “Did you teach him that?!” only to realize that he learned it in school, which is exactly where essential oils for your preschool come in handy.

Part of our routine has always been using essential oils throughout our day. Now that school has started, we’ve adjusted that some to account for the especially germy toddlers Matthew is around. He also needs to be able to concentrate a little longer and play a little harder. Not to mention, I’m not around him 24/7 anymore! He obviously spends 8 hours at school, where I’m not, so finding ways for him to continue to have the benefits of these amazing oils while at school was important to me. The good news is, our kid loves his “whale” (oil) and is happy to comply. There are so many great options for essential oils for  preschoolers, but I thought I’d share a few of the ways we use them on Matthew.

Essential Oils for Preschoolers

Morning

We start his day with a little roll of Protective Blend on his spine or big toe. This helps keep his immune system in tip-top shape to fight toddler germs. I also diffuse a variety of blends in the mornings to wake him up and put him in a good mood for his teacher. My favorites are lime-wild orange-peppermint or Focus Blend.

During School

I’ve put lemon, peppermint, or wild orange oil into his water bottle that he uses for snack time and lunch. It keeps it tasty, which keeps him hydrated, even when I’m not there to remind him to drink water. This is especially important now that we live in Texas where it’s about a bajillion degrees until, say, January, which is why peppermint is a good choice for its cooling properties, but any of the “kid-approved” essential oils for your preschooler would be perfect.

After School

We come home, play at the park (often with more essential-oil-flavored water), and eat dinner. He’s usually completely exhausted which makes for a tough bedtime for all of us. So, I use our lavender essential oil in his bath to help settle him. While we read books, say prayers, and give hugs and “chisses,” I diffuse our Sleepytime Blend. I use Restful Blend, lavender, ylang ylang, and patchouli, but there are lots of combos that can work well. The last thing I do before saying good night is roll more Protective Blend on both boys’ spines to help strengthen their immune system while they sleep.

There are SO many options of essential oils for preschoolers for nearly every aspect of their school routine. Play around with different combinations and see what works best for your family!

What oils have you found that help your kiddo the most? Let me know on Facebook!

  • Started our summer off the way we always do— sno cones on the last day of school! 🍧🌞🏝
.
This year, we got to have the Sheehan girls with us, too. I can’t believe how big all of these kids are, but so thankful that the girls are OFFICIALLY Dallas residents so we get to do this way more often (FOREVER).

  • This funny little guy is 7 months old! Maddox is rolling all over, sitting up on his own, and loving getting to try food. I think my favorite part of the day is watching him watch his brothers (and watching his brothers play with him)— they all just think the other is God’s gift to them and them alone. (Every one of these pictures shows you where his big brothers were, based on where he’s looking. He couldn’t have cared less about Mama during the photo shoot!)
